Colorless monoclinic crystal or white crystalline powder. Melting point 120℃ (decomposition), d 1_982. It is highly oxidizing and corrosive. Completely dry ammonium persulfate is not easy to decompose, and wet ammonium persulfate will gradually decompose, releasing oxygen and ozone. Soluble in water, its aqueous solution will decompose at room temperature. Explosive mixtures can be formed when mixed with reducing agents, organic compounds, inflammables or metal powders
Purpose
Oxidizing agent: Ammonium persulfate can be used as an oxidizing agent in the organic synthesis industry, such as as an oxidizing coloring agent in the process of synthesizing aniline dyes.
Bleach: It is also used as a bleach agent, which can oxidize organic pigment molecules and break them down into colorless substances to achieve bleaching effect.
Polymerization initiator: In polymerization reactions, ammonium persulfate can be used as an initiator, especially in emulsion polymerization and REDOX polymerization of vinyl chloride compounds.
Disinfectant: Ammonium persulfate has a certain sterilization effect, can be used in water treatment, medical equipment disinfection and other fields.
